A recent product puts some smarts into field disc markers resulting
in greater efficiency and safety. MarkerMASTER from Triple Star Manufacturing
replaces marker’s hydraulic lever system with state-of-the-art electronic
controls.
All the head-twisting and lever-yanking is replaced by single button
presses on a small cab-mounted box. Headland turns become interlock-safe
and push-button simple and smooth. Centrack invented their one-touch marker
control system in 1995, began marketing it in 1997 and for 2001 has advanced
it further with their new heads-up engineering.
Field markers are cost-effective precision-agriculture tools. Unfortunately
they require continual watching and traditional hydraulic-lever control
means a lot of arm work. A simple distraction or miscue can cause an expensive
accident especially during complex maneuvers or simultaneous operation
of other equipment. At best a long day in the field feels more like rowing
through rapids than piloting a modern tractor.
"The fundamentals were right with the original product. Operators
no longer need to hold a lever while waiting for markers to fold or extend,
it worked well and people liked it, "says Bill Scottco-developer.
"We are engineers and farmers and we're in constant contact with
MarkerMASTER users. We wanted to make our control system even easier to
use and more effective. We decided to refine the interface."
"We'd already removed the need to watch the markers themselves",
says Sjoberg , "So the next logical step was to do the same for the
control box. We call it our 'heads-up' design. Every button now has a
unique shape for touch recognition. Every function confirms actions with
a distinctive sound. The new weather-sealed box can be mounted almost
anywhere, even out of sight. Operators can now fully dedicate attention
to other matters. Stress is reduced, productivity increased, and safety
enhanced."
The new design retains the best features of the previous model: clear
instructions for quick do-it-yourself installation on almost any marker
system; bright indicator lights for further assurances and night-time
use; automatic hydraulic top-up; and a special manifold that replaces
troublesome sequencing valves while expanding the tractor hydraulic system
at no extra cost.
The MarkerMASTER manifold can be connected in 3 ways:
- directly to the tractor remote OR
- in parallel with the hydraulic fan motor OR
- to the tractor "power beyond" port
The 2001 "heads-up" model makes a valuable upgrade over previous
versions. The weather-sealed control box can be mounted anywhere. It's
unique touch-tome feedback allows for eyes forward operation. And, MarkerMASTER's
new face design makes it a handsome upgrade to any precision operation!
